HERZOG: YOUNG FATHER IN COURT OVER CHILD PORN PICTURES
A father accused of planning to distribute thousands of indecent photos of children appeared in court today (Thurs).
Martin Herzog, 25, is said to have had a hoard of sickening images – including more than 100 of the most graphic kind – on his home computer.
He is also accused of inciting underage girls to engage in sexual activity.
Herzog was arrested at his home in Carshalton, Surrey, in September 2010 when police are said to have found more than 4,500 images on his computer – more than 2,000 of which he planned to share with others.
Some 112 images were classed were classed as Level 5 – the most serious type, which includes images featuring sadism or bestiality.
Herzog is charged with five counts of making indecent images of a child, five counts of possessing indecent images with a view to distributing them and four counts of inciting children to engage in sexual activity.
He appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court today (Thurs) where he spoke only to confirm his name and address and did not enter a plea to any of the charges.
An application to withhold his name and address in order to protect his eight-month-old son was rejected by District Judge Nicholas Evans.
Herzog, of (38) Arlington Drive, Carshalton, Surrey, was released on unconditional bail.
He will next appear at Southwark Crown Court for a plea and directions hearing on November 18.
