HUTTON: MAN IN COURT OVER BASKETBALL MURDER
A man appeared at the Old Bailey today (Fri) accused of murdering a rival on a basketball court.
Sean Hutton, 21, is charged with the murder of 22 year-old Milad Golmakani in Kilburn, northwest London, on Wednesday April 20.
Iranian-born Mr Golmakani, of Winchester Mews, Swiss Cottage, north-west London, died from wounds to the chest and neck.
He was approached by four men while on a basketball court on the Abbey estate in what has been described as a ‘gang-related’ attack.
Milad’s 17 year-old friend was also stabbed during the same incident in Mortimer Crescent at around 4.50pm, and suffered a collapsed lung.
Hutton is accused of murder, attempted murder and an alternative charge of wounding with intent.
He is the second person to appear at the Old Bailey in connection with the attack. A 16-year-old, who cannot be named because of his age, faces the same charges and is due to face trial on August 8.
A third man Sean Ferdinand, 18, from Camden, was due to appear at Camberwell Magistrates Court today (Fri) and is expect to be brought before a judge at the Old Bailey early next week.
Hutton and Ferdinand were both charged this week.
Hutton spoke only to confirm his name during today’s short hearing before Judge Stephen Kramer QC.
No application for bail was made on his behalf.
Judge Kramer ordered that all three men should appear together for a further hearing next Friday, July 22.
Hutton, of (12) Malden Road, Kentish Town, northwest London, was remanded in custody.
The 16-year-old, from Belsize Park, northwest London, who previously appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday of this week, also remains in custody.
