‘I did kill Simonne’

An ex-soldier who stabbed his ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star girlfriend to death has denied murder, claiming he was mentally ill when he killed Simonne Kerr. Desmond Sylva, 40, knifed the 31-year-old singer in the neck in her Battersea home on 15 August this year. Police were called to the south west London address shortly before 12.40pm and Ms Kerr was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedics battling to save her.
