MAITLAND: CHILD ABUSE DETECTIVE JAILED

A detective from a Met Police child abuse squad who twice sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl has been jailed for more than five years. Detective Constable Christopher Maitland, 40, hoped to work with a specific ‘paedophile unit’ and told officers he was ‘really passionate about protecting children’.
