Nigerian hotel migrant denies assaulting woman

A Nigerian migrant today has denied assaulting a woman while staying at the Thistle City Barbican hotel.

Olusola Kamson, 31, allegedly twice put his arm around the complainant’s shoulder, then kissed her on the cheek.

The assaults are said to have taken place at the hotel in Islington on August 7 and August 12 this year.

Wearing a black sports top, Kamson appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, speaking to confirm his identity and deny two counts of sexual assault.

Tom Gill, prosecuting, said: ‘The defendant has come up to the complainant, put his arm fully around the shoulder and neck to hug her, then kissed the complainant on the cheek.

‘On the second occasion on 12 August, she was approached outside where she was standing, he put his left arm around her and kissed her on the cheek.’

Mohammed Zeb, defending, said Kamson had been ‘sectioned under the mental health act’ but he was ‘released from that section yesterday’.

Mr Zeb added: ‘He’s still at the Chase Farm Hospital pending an adequate address being found by the agencies.’

Kamson opted a jury trial and was bailed ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 7 October.

Kamson, currently residing at Chase Farm Hospital, denies two counts of sexual assault on a female.

He was released on bail with conditions not to go to the Thistle City Barbican hotel or contact the complainant directly or indirectly.
