Romanians did £170k from cashpoints

Two Romanian ATM scammers stole £170,000 in cash using a pre-payment bank card, a court heard. Rares Lacatus, 28, and Daniel Lupu, 25, admitted conspiracy to steal from various banks ‘by dishonestly activating ATMs with a prepayment card using a tool or device to activate the mechanisms of machines and manipulating the machine’ between November 2018 and November 2019. James Thacker, prosecuting, told Inner London Crown Court: ‘In short there’s 244 transactions and the loss is at just over £170,000….
