Sobbing jewellery thief is spared jail

A cleaner who swiped a £5,800 bracelet from a celebrity boutique sobbed in court as she was spared jail. Michelle Newham, 46, grabbed the luxury piece from Van Peterson Designs in Walton Street, Knightsbridge which boasted client including David Bowie and Princess Diana Shop worker Micaela Pellani chased Newham down the road and tried to get into a waiting Peugeot 107 with her. She was thrown to the ground by Newham but ‘courageous’ Ms Pellani managed to grab the keys…
