An abusive stepmother killed a five-year-old girl by forcing her into a scalding hot bath 48 years ago, a court heard. Janice Nix, 67, allegedly meted out cruel punishments to Andrea Bernard and her then eight-year-old brother Desmond Bernard ‘that went beyond chastisement even by contemporary standards’.
