Thief grabbed rucksack crammed with diamonds

A thief who struck lucky when he grabbed a rail passenger’s rucksack containing almost £200,000 worth of diamond jewellery was jailed for 15 months. Algerian Abdelwahab Tanout, 26, stole jeweller Andrew Jones’ backpack from a train at King’s Cross railway station in central London last 23 July. Mr Jones had collected a diamond necklace and earrings worth £191,000 from Hatton Garden with his son earlier that day. Tanout snatched the rucksack from the chair next to Mr Jones and fled…
