An Old Bailey judge who gave a twisted repeat rapi

An Old Bailey judge who gave a twisted repeat rapist three life terms today (thurs) was given a chilling insight into the shattering effect left on a sex attack victim.

In an impact statement read to the court the 32-year-old married mum spoke of the ‘foundations’ of her life being destroyed after Lee Hill, 25, put her through a horrific ordeal in her own home.

The woman said it was like grieving for a loved one yet she is the one who has died inside.

Hill put her through the harrowing sex attack months after his release from jail for an almost identical attack.

He subjected his latest victim to a horrendous series of indignities while her two-year-old daughter slept in the next bedroom.

The 32-year-old who had put ‘welcome home’ banners up in her home in anticipation of her husband’s return from hospital, revealed the nightmare she has been living since the attack.

Ian Paton, prosecuting, described the woman as a ‘happy and confident person’ prior to the attack.

Mr Paton said now the victim suffers panic attacks and frequently vomits involuntarily.

Despite police installing panic alarms the woman and her family felt compelled to move house.

‘She does not go out alone and panics whenever left alone at home.

She does not have visitors unless by prior appointment.

‘

She has tried ‘very hard’ to overcome her problems since the attack but reading from the statement Mr Paton said:

‘He has overwhelmed and violated my life in every way by committing this crime.

He has violated my life, my marriage, my family, friendships, my personal security and my home.

‘These are the very foundations of any person.

I no longer understand who I am.

The closest way that I am able to describe it is that it is like grieving for a loved one who has died, only it is me who has died inside.

‘

Evil Hill was jailed for nine years at the Old Bailey in 1993 for the rape of a 54-year-old woman in her home.

He forced her to submit to his perverted demands after threatening her with a hedge trimmer he had taken from her garden shed.

The court he was released from the term in May last year and five months later on November 26 he broke into the 32-year-old victim’s home in Esher, Surrey, via the French windows.

The married mum was sitting up in bed at the time preparing menus for her husband’s ‘dietary regime’ once he had got out of hospital from a serious illness.

She suddenly saw a landing light go out and when she crept out to investigate she came face to face with Hill brandishing a pen-knife.

She screamed out ‘ah’ in shock and Hill snarled at her: ‘Don’t scream you’ll wake the baby.

‘

Hill switched the light off in the bedroom and slashed the knife towards her cutting her hand as she put her arms up to defend herself.

Thinking he was a robber the woman told Hill: ‘Take the money.

It’s OK.

‘

But Hill just replied: ‘I’m not here to rape you – I’m a rapist.

‘

Mr Paton continued: ‘With a chilling calculation he inflicted a sustained series of indecent assaults.

‘

Throughout she pleaded with Hill not to hurt her but he casually told her he just wanted to rape her and quizzed her about her sex life with her ‘old man.

‘

She even told him that her husband was very ill in hospital but unfazed Hill forced her to perform a sex act upon him and then raped her twice as she screaming in agony throughout.

At one stage Hill scratched the shape of a cross on her private parts.

Eventually after he had finished he made her close her eyes and lie face down on her bed.

As he fled he warned her that he would kill her ‘and her old man’ if she told anyone.

Then on December 12 Hill broke into the home of a 42-year-old multiple sclerosis sufferer in Molesey, Surrey.

Her elderly mother was sleeping in the next bedroom at the time.

Hill asked her intimate questions but then fled with pnds stlg 140 after the brave woman stood up to him.

The defendant was arrested soon after that incident and linked to the burglary there and the rape by both fingerprints and DNA samples which he left at the scenes of crime.

Hill, of Dunbar Court, Walton, Surrey, admitted aggravated burglary, two rapes, indecent assault and one count of simple burglary.

Police in Surrey have been investigating an almost identical burglary to the one Hill committed at the home of the MS sufferer, in which the raider struck wearing a stocking mask, but that enquiry will probably now be dropped.

Hill has convictions for burglary, car crime and arson dating back to his juvenile days.

Then in December 1993 he was caged for nine years for a series of crimes including the rape of the 54-year-old in her home who had already been burgled five times.

Judge Valerie Pearlman passed an automatic life sentence under the so-called ‘two strikes’ act.

Shaven-headed Hill winked and smiled to his common-law wife in the public gallery after she shouted out ‘I love you Lee.
