A knifeman stabbed to death a popular doorman known as the Gentle Giant after his friend was refused entry, the Old Bailey heard today.

(Tues)

Spencer Sheppard, 29, summoned three pals to the south London club when he was turned away by 6ft 6ins bouncer George Napier for not paying pnds stlg five admission.

Jurors heard they returned with one of Sheppard’s American Pitbulls – one of a pair of dogs named Colonel and Gadaffi – and embarked on a ‘frenzied revenge attack.

‘

As the bouncer desperately fought off vicious Colonel Duane Daniels, 27, repeatedly plunged a knife into his heart, the court heard.

Sheppard and Daniels, along with fellow thugs Daniel Clark, 24, and Sheppard’s 31-year-old brother Louis, fled the scene.

Father-of-three Mr Napier, 36, was taken to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

‘The four planned a revenge or punishment attack on Mr Napier for no other reason than because he had ejected Spencer from the club,’ said Mr Julian Bevan, QC, prosecuting.

Within six months all four men had been arrested after DNA clues on their clothing linked them to Mr Napier’s killing.

Daniels, who alone denies murder, refused to comment when quizzed by police save to deny any part in the attack.

The Sheppard brothers and Clark have pleaded guilty to planning the violence and will be sentenced at the end of Daniels’ trial.

The incident happened outside the Paradise Bar, in New Cross on November 10 last year, jurors heard.

Mr Napier, who has relatives in Scotland, has worked as a doorman in Dingwall, Wester Ross.

Daniels, of no fixed address, denies murder and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm on November 10 last year.

Clark, [40] Rosenthal House, Rushey Green, Catford; and the Sheppard brother of [147] Albyn Road, Deptford, have admitted conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm on November 10 last year.

They will be sentenced on November 30 at the end of the trial.

All were remanded in custody.

The trial continues.
