But instead of apologising, office clerk Roberts, 47, flew into a violent rage with her fists and teeth, it is claimed.

Mr Turner, a project engineer at the Barbican, told Southwark Crown Court: ‘She started punching me.

‘I pedalled off and she pulled level with me and called me a piece of s**t.

‘When I looked around I realised she was speaking to me and then she spat at me.

‘I did not respond at all.

I did not say anything to her at all.

‘When I turned around to face her she lunged at me and spat directly in my eye and again called me a piece of s**t.

‘Then she dug her nails into my arm and bit me.

‘

Another shocked cyclist called the police and as Mr Turner’s cuts and scratches were treated in hospital, Roberts was arrested.

When quizzed by detectives, she denied spitting at and biting Mr Turner, insisting he was the thug who had punched her in the face.

Roberts, of Grantham Road, Stockwell, southwest London, denies causing Mr Turner actual bodily harm on August 13 in Queens Street.

The trial continues.
