Bodies in the freezer suspect at the Old Bailey

A double murder suspect accused of hiding the bodies of his murder victims in a freezer for three years has appeared at the Old Bailey.

Zahid Younis, 35, was arrested after the two corpses were found fused together in a small chest freezer in Vandome Close, Canning Town, east London, on 27 April last year.

The women were later identified as Hungarian Henriett Szucs, 34, and 38-year-old mother-of-three Mihrican Mustafa.

Ms Szucs had been in the UK for several years but was last heard from in summer 2016.

Ms Mustafa, 38, who was also known as Mary Jane and MJ, disappeared in May 2018.

He appeared at the Old Bailey today (Tues) over video link from HMP Belmarsh with a greying beard, hairband, necklace and grey jumper.

His case will next be listed at Kingston Crown Court on April 14 for a trial expected to last five weeks.

The charges state Ms Szucs was murdered between 26 August 2016 and 11 November 2016 while Ms Mustafa was killed between 08 May 2018 and 30 June 2018.

Peter Ratliffe, prosecuting, said: ‘This defendant was on 1 May 2019 charged with the prevention of lawful burial of two young women Henriett Szucs and Mihrican Mustafa.

‘The investigation required very complex and time-consuming forensic analysis which has led to this defendant being charged with the murder of these two women.’

Younis, of Vandome Close, is charged with two counts of murder and two of preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body.

He was remanded in custody at HMP Belmarsh. The trial has been allocated to Mr Justice Edis and will be heard at Kingston Crown Court.
