Caroline Flack hanged herself in her flat

Love Island presenter Caroline Flack hanged herself, an inquest heard.

Police were flagged down by a member of the public in Northwold Road, Stoke Newington, north London who led them to the star’s flat on the High Street.

They found Ms Flack lying on her back, Poplar Coroner’s Court heard.

She was taken to hospital but despite the best efforts of paramedics life was declared extinct at 2.36pm, on February 15.

An autopsy performed yesterday (tues) by Professor Michael Sheaff found the cause of death to be suspension by ligature.

Ms Flack’s twin sister Jody was identify her body after the presenter took her own life.

Coroner’s Officer Sandra Polson said: ‘The circumstances of the death are as follows.

‘Police were flagged down on Northwold Road in Stoke Newington.

‘They followed the informant into a residential address and found a woman lying on her back. She had appeared to have been hanged.

‘Life was declared extinct at 14.36pm.

‘Her sister Jody Flack confirmed her name was Caroline Flack. She was born on 9 November 1999, she was unmarried and her occupation was that of a TV presenter.’

The finding comes after Ms Flack’s family released an unpublished message the TV presenter penned just days before her death in which she insisted she was not a domestic abuser.

She said the alleged attack on boyfriend Lewis Burton had been an ‘accident’ in the heart-rending message.

The inquest was adjourned until 5 August.
