Man tried to trick nurse into giving him intimate examination

A sex offender who tries to trick nurses into examining his penis made a disgusting suggestion to a worker in London’s legal district, a court heard.

Derek Grey, 62, was homeless in London when he approached a woman in broad daylight outside Middle Temple near Blackfriars.

Grey told her how he needed to ‘kick his habit’ since he was ‘really sexually frustrated.’

He said: ‘I really need a w*nk, sorry love.’

The police were informed and spotted Grey standing outside the entrance to the disgusted victim’s office

Grey from Sunderland, admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

He has 42 previous convictions for 84 difference offences relating to drunk driving, being drunk and disorderly as well as sexual offences of indecent exposure.

Prosecutor Gemma Noble said his previous breach of his sexual harm prevention order in July last year.

‘He was examined by a student nurse when he said his penis had been slashed.

‘She noticed that the defendant was unsteady, slurring his words and smelt of intoxicants.’

He then proceeded to follow a woman around the hospital in the waiting area.

Defence barrister Clement Idowu said: Mr Grey was not persistent with his behaviour on that day.

‘Mr Grey suffers from a number of mental and physical problems.

‘Paranoid schizophrenia and arthritis. He has been admitted a number of times to a mental health hospital.

‘He tried to make a new life so to speak in London.

‘But I believe a message does need to be sent to Mr Grey with his sentencing today.

The Recorder of London Judge Mark Lucraft told Grey: ‘You are 62, you have had 42 convictions mainly in relation to your long-term addiction to alcohol.

‘You have clearly not abstained from alcohol.

‘The victim is now afraid to walk along the route in which you confronted her.

‘This was a clear and deliberate breach. The effect on your victim was not significant, thankfully.

Grey of no fixed address, was sentenced to 24 weeks imprisonment for public disorder and 16 weeks for breach of his community order, totalling 40 weeks in custody.
