A cleaner was cleared of raping a mother-of-two after an Old Bailey jury considered their verdict for just 30 minutes.

Paul Finn, 32, was said to have called at the woman’s home following a bust up with his own partner.

The 40-year-old woman from Croydon, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claimed he attacked her in the living room as her young children slept upstairs.

But the jury rejected her account after only half-an-hour of deliberation and the defendant walked free from court.

Finn, of [37] Seamour Villas, Anerley, Penge, southeast London, denied rape on February 28 this year.

He had told the court she invented the story in a bid to destroy his own relationship.

He denied no sexual intercourse took place.
