A failed armed robber who was foiled by a plucky shopkeeper and found cowering in a pub toilet is today (Fri) facing years behind bars.
Daniel Caine, 24, stormed into Hainault off-licence waving a pistol and demanding money.
Owner Hamit Gezer, who knew Caine was mentally unstable, chased the would-be robber out of the shop on November 3 this year.
Police later found Caine in a nearby pub.
Caine, of Woodford Bridge Road, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm – a Walther self-loading pistol.
The gunman will be sentenced on January 25 next year after the preparation of pre-sentence reports.
Judge Simon Goldstein said: ‘This is a very serious offence which calls for custody and putting it back should not indicate any other course.
