A hotel manager who indecently assaulted a 23-year-old French maid during a job interview has been warned he faces jail.
Mohamed Sayed, 44, shocked the pretty brunette when he suddenly groped her private parts.
Sayed had agreed to interview the woman, already working as a part-time chambermaid, after she visited the hotel the previous day.
In a basement room, Egyptian-born Sayed asked the woman if she had any Arabic ancestry, then began to kiss her.
Sayed then thrust his hand down the top of her trousers, sending a button flying.
His hand went inside her knickers, and he tried to penetrate her vagina with his fingers.
He also fondled the woman’s breast during the attack.
The woman, a recent arrival from France then punched him in the stomach and fled the Windsor Hotel in Earls Court.
Giving evidence at Blackfriars Crown Court, the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said:
‘He held me by the forearm and tried to touch my breast.
‘He slipped his hand inside my trousers, inside my knickers and touched my private parts.
‘
Sobbing as she gave evidence through a translator she said: ‘I tried to say stop but maybe the words weren’t coming out of my mouth – I had a lump in my
throat.
‘
But she bravely punched the sex pest in the stomach and fled the hotel, running into the arms of her boyfriend who was standing outside.
After the attack at the hotel in Penywern Road, Earls Court, the woman immediately called the police who arrested Sayed.
Grilled by detectives, Sayed, the hotel’s duty manager, accepted he had interviewed a number of women for jobs at the hotel.
But he said nothing untoward had happened with any of them.
Sayed, who said he was in charge of 57 staff, told the court ‘he did not know why the woman was making these allegations against him.
‘
He protested: ‘I have worked in the hotel for the last five years and I’ve never heard such a ridiculous story.
‘I know how to conduct myself in interviews.
I’ve interviewed a lot of young people.
‘
Judge David Martineau was prepared to bail Sayed, but only with a pnds stlg 20,000 surety.
He adjourned sentencing until 18 April, but refused to rule out custody as an option.
Sayed’s girlfriend burst into tears on hearing the jury’s verdict.
Sayed, of (237) Hermit Road, Canning Town, east London was found guilty of indecent assault on 27 July last year.
