ATKINSON: RETRIAL FOR MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING EASTENDERS EXTRA
A man accused of murdering an Eastenders extra is facing a retrial after the case had to be aborted shortly before the jury retired to consider its verdict.
Brian Atkinson, 25, is said to have stabbed actor Kevlin Eurie, 26, in the chest on a pub dancefloor in Plaistow, east London.
It is claimed he had vowed revenge after Mr Eurie became involved in a dispute between Atkinson and his pregnant girlfriend’s family.
CCTV cameras allegedly captured Atkinson plunge a knife into the victim’s chest at the Greengate pub on October 16 last year.
Mr Eurie, who lived in East Ham, was pronounced dead in hospital two hours later from a single stab wound.
Atkinson, of Medcalf Road, Enfield, denied murder, claiming he acted in self defence.
Judge Martin Stephens QC discharged the jury for legal reasons.
Atkinson will now return to court on Friday to set a date for any retrial.
