‘Bogus Deliveroo rider shot eight-year-old girl twice’

An eight-year-old girl had ‘nowhere to escape’ when she was shot twice in her family car by a gunman disguised as a Deliveroo rider, a court heard.

Jazz Reid, 33, allegedly fired 11 times as the youngster sat in the vehicle on Southern Row, Ladbroke Grove, west London on 24 November last year.

Her father was shot five times by Reid in the back, chest, abdomen and pelvis area during the same hit, the Old Bailey heard.

Reid is accused of carrying out two other shootings on 9 October and 11 November last year.

He drove to each shooting on an e-bike, dressed as a Deliveroo driver carrying a takeaway bag, jurors heard.

Police later found a firearm linked to the shootings hidden under a slab of concrete near his home, it was said.

Wearing a green zip-up Armour top, Reid listened intently as prosecutor Michael Goodwin KC said: ‘This case concerns the discharge of a firearm in the Ladbroke Grove, Notting Hill area of London on three separate occasions in October and November last year.

‘The prosecution case is that Jazz Reid was responsible for those three firearm discharges.

‘On at least two of these occasions, Jazz Reid – the prosecution allege – successfully shot the total of three different individuals.’

Mr Goodwin continued: ’On 9 October last year, the prosecution allege that Jazz Reid discharged a firearm twice.

‘He shot a man called Ameile Buncomb once in the thigh at his home address in Lancaster Road in the Notting Hill, North Kensington area of London.

‘On 11 November last year, the prosecution allege that Jazz Reid then discharged at least four shots outside an addressed linked to a man.

‘The prosecution case is the same gun was used by Mr Reid for both the shootings on 9 October of Ameile Buncomb and the discharge on 11 November in Kenley Walk.’

Mr Goodwin said the father and his eight-year-old daughter were shot 13 days later in the Southern Row are of North Kensington.

‘Eleven shots were fired – five hit (the father) in the back, chest, abdomen and pelvis area.

‘Two shots hit his daughter in her buttock and foot.

‘Both him and his daughter, along with other family members at the time of being shot, were seated in a car used regularly by the family.

‘They had nowhere to escape to when the defendant opened fire on them.’

Mr Goodwin told jurors: ‘Each of these three shootings, on the three different dates you are concerned with, are alleged to have been targeted shootings.

‘They were planned and executed with precision.

‘What the prosecution rely upon is the way Reid went about preparing for the shootings. his actions before and after the shootings, and the steps he took cover his tracks.

‘The defendant’s method was almost identical on each occasion.

‘Shortly before the shootings took place, the defendant drove a hire car that he’d hired from his home address in Uxbridge to the Ladbroke Grove, North Kensington area of London.

‘Two different hire cars were used by Jazz Reid for these three shootings.

‘Having driven to the Ladbroke Grove area, Jazz Reid headed to Swinbrook Estate which is located just off Ladbroke Grove.

‘This location was chosen because it provided a cover location, where he could conveniently park his hire car without arousing suspicion, and then collect a bike and a disguise that he was going to use to carry out all three shootings.

‘Having parked the car on the estate, the defendant then walks to Angus Green’s house where the bike and disguise is kept.

‘A Deliveroo box – a big, green box we are all familiar with – was used as part of the disguise, because when he carried out the shooting he was disguised as a deliveroo driver.

‘The shooting, on three occasions, involved a deliveroo delivery driver who was riding a bike, which the prosecution say was an e-bike.

‘The prosecution case is that the same e-bike and Deliveroo disguise was used for all three shootings.’

Mr Goodwin said the defendant was arrested on 26 November ‘whilst driving a hire car.

‘His home address was searched and just outside the rear of the home, hidden under a slab of concrete, the officers found a self-loaded 9mm calibre pistol wrapped in two plastic bags.

‘That pistol was loaded with a magazine that contained 17 live rounds of ammunition.

‘Recovered cartridges from the scene that were found in the road, and in the car, had been fired form the gun found at Jazz Reid’s flat, or outside it.’

He told that ‘one firearm had been used to discharge ammunition found on the first two shootings, and that a second firearm, the one found in the garden area of the defendant’s home, had been used for the third shooting.

‘The prosecution case is that this defendant had access to two separate firearms that were used to carry out these three shootings.

‘The defendant’s DNA was found on the spent ammunition used in the second shooting, and on the firearm used in the third shootings.’

Reid, of Uxbridge, west Lodnon, denies attempted murder, three counts of wounding with intent, three counts of possessing a firearm with with intent to endanger life and three counts of possessing ammunition without a firearm certificate.

The trial continues and is expected to last four weeks.
