Child murder trial halted

The Old Bailey trial of a warehouse worker accused of killing his daughter by hurling her into her cot when she was a baby was halted today (weds). Dean Smith, 45, allegedly threw little Maisie Newell ‘four to five feet’ across the bedroom before smoking a cigarette and necking a beer, the Old Bailey heard today (tues).
