Former senior MOD official Gordon Foxley, accused

Former senior MOD official Gordon Foxley, accused of
receiving corrupt payments from foreign armamants firms, chose
not to give evidence in his trial today.

(Thurs)
At the end of the Crown’s case against Foxley, his counsel
Mr Roy Amlot, QC, announced that the defence would be calling no
evidence.

He then produced a medical report on his client which detailed
a history of heart problems.

It revealed that in 1972 Foxley suffered a heart attack and
ten years later he had a triple by-pass operation.

Mr Amlot said that he currently suffers from angina and requires
regular medication.

‘His condition tends to deteriorate in emotional confrontations,’
added counsel.

The trial was adjourned until tomorrow (Fri) when prosecution
and defence counsel will make their closing speeches before Judge
Andrew Brooks sums the case up to the jury.

The jury is expected to retire to consider its verdicts on
Monday.
