Fraud trial halted after president’s wife vomits in court

A long running fraud trial involving the exiled president of the Indian Ocean Chagos Islands has collapsed after his wife vomited in court. Andre Allen Vincatassin, 50, wife Marie Joelie Dorothee, 33, Sandeeren Mareemootoo, 42, and Yiliana Hengari, 31, were accused of defrauding 84-year-old Marie Anodin in 2016. Vincatassin was elected president-in-exile of the Diego Garcia and Chagos Islands Council in 2011. The islanders were evicted in the 1960s and 1970s to allow the US to build a military base….
