Murder trial to start – in a year’s time
A woman accused of killing a man nearly five years ago must wait until March 2023 to stand trial.
Gloria Mayele, 32, denied the manslaughter of Hendjie Kadima in a flat in Barry House, Bermondsey, southeast London on 27 July 2017.
Congolese Mayele, speaking over a videolink through a Linga interpreter, said: ‘Not guilty, I didn’t do it.’
Judge Anthony Leonard, QC, set her trial for 6 March next year but said it was ‘hoped it will be reached before that date.’
Mayele, of Walton, Liverpool, denies manslaughter.
She was released on unconditional bail ahead of her next hearing at the Old Bailey on 22 July this year.
