Pot slinger faces long stretch after kidnap shooting
A cannabis dealer is facing years behind bars after he was involved in shooting two men who were holding a friend to ransom.
Danny Harle, 26, was the wheelman in a high speed chase through Herne Hill, south London.
His passenger shot Kelly O’Shea and Kane Kornyak from their black Nissan Juke which crashed into a parked car.
Also in the car was kidnap victim Jordan Afriye who had been beaten severely and stabbed twice in the legs.
Harle then pulled Afriye out of the crashed car and took him to hospital, calling for a nearby UberEats delivery driver to help him carry the injured man
Mr Afriye had been kidnapped for a ransom of both drugs and money.
A month later Harle instructed another criminal on how to use a 9mm pistol and to ‘grease it every time you go out there.’
Prosecutor John Evans had told the court: ‘This case is about a shooting that took place on 10 September 2020, and about Mr Harle helping someone unjam a 9mm gun to enable someone to shoot someone else a month later.
‘Kelly O’Shea was in the back of the car with another person, Jordan Afriye.
‘He seems to be an acquaintance of Mr Harle, and he seems to be in a bit of trouble.
When he presented himself to hospital, he had gotten knife wounds and a dislocated shoulder.
‘The inference is that Kane Kornyak and Kelly O’Shea were responsible for those injuries, and were using that to get money and drugs from Mr Harle.
‘Witnesses heard a number of bangs at the time, and afterwards five bullet casings were retrieved from the car and the street.’
Mr Evans told jurors how Mr Afriye had been restrained with cable ties, and he was recorded discussing the shooting with other people before and after 10 September 2020.
He continued: ‘It seems he was held there against his will.
‘Danny Harle was a drug dealer who sold cannabis at the time.
‘The defence say that although he was in the car, he didn’t know the person with him had a gun, or that he was going to use it.
‘He accepts having a firearm, but denies he did so with intent to enable another to endanger life.
‘He ultimately called the shots that day. All of those in the recordings deferred to him.’
Harle was ultimately cleared of two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life in connection with an incident in Herne Hill.
Detective Constable Mick Grimshaw, from the Specialist Crime Command, said: ‘Throughout this investigation we found that Harle put others in danger in order to further his illegal enterprise.
‘There can be no doubt that Harle is a man with little regard for the safety of those around him.
‘He was documented quite clearly “repairing” an illegal firearm for another person and advising them how to carry out future shootings.
‘This man’s potential to not only harm others, but to school other criminals in committing other acts of violence is untold.
‘I hope that today’s verdict demonstrates the Met’s commitment to pursuing individuals such as Harle and bringing forward robust case files which will result in custodial sentences for people as dangerous as this man.’
Harle, of Gandolfi Street, Camberwell, denied two counts of attempted murder, two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
He admitted supplying cannabis and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.
The dealer will appear for sentencing at the court on 18 February.
