She’d be happy to be locked up with ‘killer’ boyfriend
A teenager accused of booking her boyfriend a coach ticket after he ran over and killed a drinker said she loved him enough ‘to get locked up with the key thrown away’, a court heard.
Jasmine Robinson, 19, texted Martin Eastwood, 21, to say: ‘I would do anything for you you know xx.’
Liam Dent, 25, was dragged under the wheels of a stolen Ford S-Max driven by Eastwood for over half a mile, jurors have heard.
Witnesses heard the victim’s bloodcurdling screams as the car reached speeds of up to 32mph in Moor Lane, Chessington, Surrey.
Eastwood and a friend had become involved in an argument with a group of men outside the Lucky Rover pub on July 26, 2019.
The pair drove in the area around the Lucky Rover looking for the men before Eastwood deliberately ploughed into Mr Dent, it is said.
Nine days later Robinson allegedly bought a Sheffield-London coach ticket for Eastwood for the 4 August 2019 using the name ‘Jordan McKenzie’.
She then, jurors head, messaged him: ‘If he does say anything remember ur jordan mckenzie and that u booked seat 4a.’
Robinson told her mother that her boyfriend, who was in Sheffield, could not get a coach ticket to come down to London to visit her.
In a text to her mum she said: ‘I can’t be arsed to wait another two days, does anyone you know have £20 in their bank account, literally anyone?’
Robinson’s mother transferred the money to her daughter’s account so she could purchase the ticket on her phone.
Her mother then transferred another £18 to allow her daughter to buy a coach ticket from Sheffield to London for 13 August, jurors heard.
Two days later Robinson’s mum messaged her daughter asking if she could go to the shops to pick up toilet roll.
Robinson was with Eastwood at the time and told her mother: ‘Martin will go in a bit’.
Prosecutor Deanna Heer said: ‘In fact Eastwood was seen as he left the house that morning and subsequently arrested.’
Robinson was arrested the next day and granted bail.
The prosecutor went on to read out text exchanges between Eastwood and Robinson following their arrests.
On 14 September, Eastwood texted his girlfriend: ‘When I wake up in the morning I got murder on my mind.’
Ten days later, Robinson messaged him: ‘Love you enough to be prepared to get locked up with the key thrown away if it meant keeping my baby safe, I would do anything for you you know xx.’
Days later she added: ‘I want you to know I don’t expect nothing from you just love and respect that is it.
‘None of that materialistic sh*t it don’t bother me one bit.
‘I just want to help you change your ways and keep you away from all this sh*t once you are out.’
Messages were then read out from 30 September showing a heated exchange between the couple about what his time in jail meant for their relationship.
‘I’m here for a few months if I get a good few years I know what would happen,’ Eastwood said.
Robinson replied: ‘If you got life off that is a different story so why are you chatting sh*t? I can wait a few years.’
Eastwood said: ‘There you go if I got life off you would just leave me to die I know you would.’
Robinson went on: ‘Why you talking like saw you got 20 years ahead of you? You got two months left.
‘And that is not going to happen because you are out in two months stop going on like you’re locked up forever and just look forward to getting back to normal with me.
‘I love you for f**k’s sake if anything ever happened to you I couldn’t live.’
On 11 October Robinson texted her jailed boyfriend: ‘I’m holding sh*t down wtf you on about?
‘I think you’re forgetting what the f**k I’ve done for you.
‘Anyone else would have crumbled.
‘I would risk everything.’
Eastwood, of Epsom, denies murder.
Robinson, also of Epsom, denies assisting an offender.
