‘Sorry officer – I use my meat cleaver to chop vegetables’

A pensioner caught with a meat cleaver outside a primary school claimed he was using it to chop vegetables, a court heard. Ronald Edwards, 71, was found with the knife as he walked his dog along Ravens Court Road, Hammersmith, west London on 4 July. Police were initially called because Edwards’ dog had been accused of biting a passer-by, Westminster Magistrates’ court heard. When offficers approached him outside Flora Gardens Primary School, he lent down and the knife was spotted….
