WARREN:ROBBER THREATENED TO KILL EXECUTIVE FOR HER £50K DIAMOND RING

A City executive wept as she told a court how a robber threatened to kill her and snatched her £50,000 diamond wedding ring just yards from her home in exclusive Mayfair.

Kris Reagan was taking her dog for a walk after returning home from work when she was grabbed from behind and pushed to the ground.

The mugger, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, then throttled her and threatened to kill her, it is claimed.

Mrs Reagan sobbed as she told the Old Bailey how she tried to fool him by flinging one of her other rings across the road.

She said: ‘I didn’t want to give up my wedding ring. But I didn’t know how serious it was until he said he was going to kill me.

‘He put so much pressure on my neck and windpipe that I was losing consciousness.

‘I took off my ring and he grabbed it.’

Mrs Reagan then bravely ran after the attacker as he escaped on the back of a waiting motorbike, the court heard.

She was later able to point out a cord she believed she had pulled from the robber during the attack on September 22, 2009.

A DNA sample found on it was later matched to 23 year-old Alexander Warren and he is now facing trial for robbery.

Mrs Reagan, an American executive manager working in Canary Wharf, said she returned home to Hay’s Mews at around 7pm.

Fifteen minutes later she was walking her dog in Charles Street when she heard a motorbike coming up behind her.

She told the court: ‘I felt a large hit from behind and a hand came round my neck and my mouth because I was trying to scream.

‘He said ”Give me the ring, I want the ring.” I was screaming. I did not want to give my wedding ring.

‘He took his other hand and grabbed me by the throat, and he threw me to the ground backwards. My head hit the pavement.

‘I remember him demanding the ring. He wasn’t going to give up. I looked to my side and saw a motorbike with a person on it.

‘I had a stack of rings, a band, a diamond ring, and another band. I took off the first band and threw it in the hope he would go after that.’

After the robber got the wedding ring and left, she found her dog waiting at the top of the road.

Her husband called the police after hearing her screaming.

Mrs Reagan said: ‘He thought something had happened to the dog because I was so hysterical. I told him I had been attacked and call the police.’

The court heard that she told the police her attacker was ‘definitely white’ and had a Midlands accent, although his face was obscured by the motorcycle helmet.

Warren, of [7] Daryngton House, Hartington Road, Vauxhall, southwest London, denies robbery.

The trial continues.
