Two brothers who subjected an unarmed man to an ‘o

Two brothers who subjected an unarmed man to an ‘outrageous’
attack in his own home have walked free from the Old Bailey.

Victim Mr Sonny White, 32, was with his girlfriend and her
two children at her home when he answered the door to be
confronted by knife-wielding Peter Finnety, 25, and his
brother Tony, 27.

Both were total strangers.

Mr White bravely tried to defend himself from the seemingly
unprovoked attack.

For his pains, he suffered minor cuts as he wrestled the
knife from Peter Finnerty and cuts and bruises from being kicked
in the head by the knifeman’s brother.

Watching the violent fracas was Mr White’s estranged wife
Alison, who unknown to him had become Tony Finnerty’s girlfriend
two weeks before.

She egged the brothers on as they attacked him, the court
heard.

Mr White managed to fight the men off until the police,
summoned by the ‘terrified’ girlfriend upstairs, arrived at the
flat in Grove Stile Way, Bedfont, Middx.

The PCs heard Tony Finnerty yelling at him: ‘I’m going to do
you.

I’m going to have your legs blown off.

You don’t know who
I am.

I’ll have you stabbed.

‘
He later claimed the June 28 attack last year was a reaction
to Mr White’s alleged harassment of Alison White.

Tony Finnerty, of Queenswood Avenue, Hounslow, and his brother
Peter, a construction worker of Ivy Bridge Estate, Isleworth,
admitted affray and assaulting Mr White, causing actual bodily
harm.

The judge, Mr Recorder Daniel Owen-Thomas QC, said although
serious, the brothers’ crimes did not warrant an immediate jail
term.

He told the pair: ‘This was outrageous behaviour, an
unprovoked attack on a man in his own home.

‘
Turning to Tony Finnerty, he added: ‘I am sure you were the
leading light in this.

‘
He was ordered to perform 180 hours unpaid community service.

His brother Peter was fined pnds stlng 100.

Both brothers were ordered to pay a total of almost pnds
stlng 200 in compensation.
