A motorist who twice punched a mini-cab driver who
accidentally crashed into his car was today (Monday) placed
on probation.

Cleon (corr) Rodney, 26, was also ordered by Judge
Brian Smedley QC to do 60 hours community service.

‘You were the innocent party in a collision between
yourself and the victim and then you decided to try and
persuade him to pay for the damage to your car and you used
violence to do it,’ said the judge as he passed sentence.

Rodney, unemployed, of Exton Crescent, Willesden,
admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and common assault
after Mr Costa Charalambou, 41, reversed his mini-cab into
Rodney’s gleaming Peugeot 205 GTi in a Harlesden street on
July 27, 1992.

About pnds stlng 400 damage was caused to the bumper
bar and wheel-trim of Rodney’s car.

During a heated row, Rodney twice punched Mr Charalambou,
of Haselbury Road, Edmonton, in the head.

The pair eventually exchanged addresses and the victim’s
wife later phoned police when she learned of the attack.

Miss Dora Belford, defending, said Rodney now deeply
regretted his actions.

‘He has only himself to blame for losing his temper
and he apologises for what he did,’ she said.

‘He has learnt from this experience.

‘
Rodney’s probation order wil run for two years.
