Speaking outside court Detective Inspector Martin

Speaking outside court Detective Inspector Martin Ford of the Serious Crime Group said: ‘This is a tragic case in the truest sense of the expression in that two young lives have been ruined, apparently over the most trivial of causes.

‘That a youth can be stabbed to death on a quiet Sunday afternoon in London over an argument about graffiti devalues human life.

‘It is a sad fact that this type of incident will continue to happen wherever people routinely carry knives in public and resort to violence to resolve their difficulties with eachother.

‘We are pleased with the verdict for Devon’s family and friends because of the comfort they are afforded from having the facts of how he died confirmed by this jury.

‘We are also conscious of the devastating effect that this will have upon the defendant’s family.

‘It must be remembered that the stabbing was witnessed by a number of teenagers and this tragedy will touch the lives of many people in the area to come.

‘From our investigation we found nothing to suggest that Devon Allen was anything but a pleasant young man with a bright future.

He has never been in trouble with the police.
