Father denies killing son

A father has denied murdering his one-year-old son and attempting to kill another child with a hammer.

Bidhya Sagar Das, 33, allegedly killed baby Gabriel and left the young girl in a critical condition after the attack at his home in north London on 18 March.

Police found the children seriously injured after being called to the flat near Finsbury Park at 11.10pm.

Gabriel was pronounced dead in the early hours of the next day.

Das, who had worked as a night receptionist at the Pembury Hotel near his home, appeared at the Old Bailey today (Thurs) to deny murder and attempted murder.

Mr Justice Spencer remanded him in custody ahead of his trial, expected to last two weeks, on October 9.
