Jihadi bought one-way ticket to Syria

A jihadi who bought a one-way ticket to Syria where he joined Al-Qaida faces years behind bars.

Mohammed Yamin, 25, also purchased survival equipment and clothing as part of his travel preparations in July 2013.

He was arrested by anti-terror police following a raid on his home in east London on January 30.

Yamin appeared at the Old Bailey this morning (mon) where he pleaded guilty to preparing acts of terrorism and being a member of A-Qaida between July 2013 and June 2014.

He denied a third charge of possessing a gun for terrorist purposes and that count was ordered to lie on file.

Judge Mark Dennis QC remanded Yamin in custody ahead of sentence at the same court on October 4.
