Accused stalker standing against Tory turncoat Soubry

A Brexit activist accused of harassing turncoat MP Anna Soubry has deliberately targeting the politician by standing against her in the election, a court heard.

Amy Dalla Mura, 56, targeted the former Tory during public talks and TV interviews and said she would like to ‘have a word with her’ when Ms Soubry, 62, was filming outside Parliament.

It emerged today (thurs) that Dalla Mura is running for office in Ms Soubry’s constituency of Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire for the English Democrats party.

She left the former Conservative MP ‘rattled’ when she yelled questions and refused to leave during a question-and-answer session at a London hotel and a few weeks earlier.

Prosecutor Philip Stott said: ‘On Tuesday the defendant attended the office of the returning officer in Broxtowe.

‘She submitted duly completed nomination forms to stand in that constituency which has been Ms Soubry’s for the past nine years, it is Ms Soubry’s intention to stand again.

‘Standing as an MP is not unlawful, the question is whether it has been carried out with a culpable intention, it’s 200 miles from her home to Broxtowe.

‘This is done in part to punish Ms Soubry for harassment charges.

Dalla Mura said: ‘I was approached, contacted by the English Democrats who asked if I wanted to stand.

‘There is a difference between feeling harassed and being harassed.

‘I have done nothing wrong except to criticise somebody, I thought what better way if this of was made to me it was not on my mind it just came to me.

‘I have made many contacts with MPs like Hillary Benn, David Davis.

‘I’m accused of stalking somebody but I hurt her ago, I didn’t get out of my chair’

Of the election she said: ‘I hope to win and to be able to represent the citizens of Broxtowe bBecause I feel they have been let down miserably.’

Dalla Mura admitted she was not aware of any local issues in the constituency apart from Brexit and that she had no personal connection to the area.

The £500 fee required to run for an election was paid for by crowd funding.

She denied targeting Ms Soubry, saying: ‘I don’t think of her. I’m thinking of Broxtowe and Its constituents I don’t think of Ms Soubry.’

Senior District Judge Emma Arbuthnot said: ‘It just shows how criminal cases twist and turn in the most astonishing way.’

Ms Soubry previously told the court: ‘This defendant has frightened me more than anybody else.

‘My fear in relation to this woman and her unusual obsessive behaviour led me to be more frightened than ever.

‘I was so fearful for my safety I wouldn’t travel on Tube and wouldn’t use public transport.’

Donald Trump supporter Dalla Mura’s alleged harassment took place between January and March this year.

Ms Soubry spoke to the Metropolitan police the day after the question-and-answer session at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel, on January 23.

Dalla Mura, of Eaton Villas, Hove, East Sussex, denies harassing Anna Soubry on January 23, March 14 and March 21 this year.

She has now been forbidden from entering the Broxtowe constituency.

The trial was adjourned until 2pm on 19 November when the judge is expected to give her verdict.
