Accused knifeman denies murdering this man

A knifeman has denied murdering a delivery driver and stabbing two other men in the space of six days.

Amine Hamani Laouar, 20, allegedly knifed Leon Street, 48, to death on 11 January, just ten minutes after he stabbed Mirbais Khan, 47, in the back in Neasden, northwest London.

Laouar returned to Neasden Lane North on 17 January and tried to murder 32-year-old Mital Karaniya on 17 January, it is claimed.

Laouar appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Belmarsh prison and denied murder, attempted murder and wounding with intent.

Paul Jarvis, prosecuting, earlier said: ‘Mr Khan was approached by a man from behind and stabbed in the shoulder which punctured his lung.

‘The same man appeared out of the blue and stabbed Mr Street. He was able to stagger home but sadly died from seven stab wounds to the back, the torso and his leg.’

Mr Street, a father and step-grandfather, was stabbed to death close to where he lived with his fiancee.

Mr Jarvis added: ‘He was stabbed once to the back and twice to the shoulder.’

Laouar, of Oxford Place, Brent, denies murdering Mr Street, attempting to murder Mr Karaniya and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm against Mr Khan.

Judge Anthony Leonard QC remanded Laouar in custody ahead of his trial at the Old Bailey on 18 July 2022.
