Accused sado-masochistic murderer Stephen Harvey a

Accused sado-masochistic murderer Stephen Harvey admitted to
an Old Bailey jury that he has a conviction for a gay sex
offence.

Harvey, 31, denies he was ever the partner of homosexual murder
victim Alan Bonner, who had his skull smashed in inside his own
home whilst gagged and bound.

The prosecution claim he lured Mr Bonner, 43, into a twisted
game for a sado-masochistic thrill then ‘treacherously’ beat him
to death.

Harvey, a married man of Medway Court, Selhurst Road, South
Norwood, denies murdering Mr Bonner on June 2 last year.

In the witness box, he strenuously denied he had ever had a
homosexual relationship with Mr Bonner, a ‘promiscuous’ HIV-positive
man who was developing full-blown Aids.

But in a shock twist in the month-long murder trial, he was
forced to admit he was put on probation in 1985 for importuning
men in a public place for immoral purposes.

Harvey also admitted impersonating a police officer the same
year and a string of convictions for burglary and dishonesty
going back to 1979.

He was compelled to admit his criminal past – facts normally
withheld from the jury – after telling the court how he had once
received a commendation from the police.

Harvey admits using the dead man’s credit cards within hours
of Mr Bonner being brutally slain.

He told the court he was visiting his mother, who lives next
door to Mr Bonner in Nelgarde Road, Catford, when he found the
card in a wallet outside the dead man’s home.

He said he knocked on the door of the victim’s house to give
it back but when he got no reply he used it for a spending spree
at Silverman’s army surplus in Mile End.

Harvey’s fingerprints were found on a pornographic video
which was believed to be playing at the time of the murder and
on a piggy bank.

The trial, expected to another week, continues.
