Accused ‘serial rapist’ cop denies 15 more offences

A Met Police officer accused of being a serial sex attacker has denied 15 charges including rape, sexual assault and assault by penetration.

PC David Carrick, 47, faces trial for 44 offences against 12 different women.

Earlier this month Carrick, who was part of the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was charged with three further counts of rape, against a new complainant, between 2008 and 2009.

He is now charged with 21 counts of rape; nine counts of sexual assault: five counts of assault by penetration; three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour; two counts of false imprisonment; two counts of attempted rape; one count of attempted sexual assault by penetration; one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

The first accusation against him was that he raped a woman in a hotel room on 5 September 2020 after a Tinder date.

Carrick, who previously denied 29 of the offences at a plea hearing, appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court via videolink from HMP Belmarsh, wearing a grey tracksuit.

Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb said: ‘At this time I am anxious to accommodate the defence counsel if I possibly can.

‘I will fix this trial for the 6th February 2023 and it is to be heard at Southwark Crown Court where that slot has been kept open for it.’

The time estimate for the trial is eight weeks.

Carrick was remanded in custody until his trial date.
