BBC sculpture smasher in court

A protestor has denied causing more than £31,000 worth of damage to a statue by controversial sculptor Eric Gill outside the BBC’s Broadcasting House. David Chick, 56, scaled scaffolding outside the building in Portland Place, central London and attacked the statue of Ariel and Prospero with a hammer and chisel, it was said.
