GROVE:INSURANCE CLERK ADMITS DOWNLOADING CHILD PORN
An insurance clerk today (Tues) admitted downloading hundreds of child porn images to his computer.
Thomas Grove, 20, made digital copies of 274 indecent images of children, including three films and four stills graded at ‘level 5’ – depicting sadism or bestiality.
A further 79 of the pictures contained ‘level 4’ material in which children were shown having penetrative sex with adults.
His hard-drive also contained 64 ‘extreme’ images depicting sex between humans, dogs and horses.
Insurance clerk Grove, who lives with his mother in Hornchurch, Essex, spoke only to confirm his identity during the brief hearing before the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
He was ordered to sign the sexual offenders’ register immediately before leaving the building.
Court documents state that the files were downloaded on or before February 28 this year.
District Judge Caroline Tubbs told him: ‘It is noted that you have pleaded guilty to all of these matters, and that will reduce any sentence that is imposed on you in due course.
‘But, in view of the very serious nature of the matters, this court’s powers are not sufficient.’
Sending the case to the crown court, she added: ‘Clearly there must be no further offences of any kind, and you are not to have any unsupervised contact with a child under 16 years old.’
Grove, of (11) Beulah Road, Hornchurch, Essex, admitted 16 counts of making indecent images of children and three counts of possessing extreme pornography.
He was bailed to appear before Southwark Crown Court to be sentenced on an unscheduled date expected to fall in the next three to four weeks.
