This morning we received a complaint about a news story featured in the News
Shopper.

(The case of Peter Solley at the Old Bailey)
As a matter of course, one of our reporters telephoned Central to clarify
whether the fact was correct or not.

I was extremely concerned to be told that the query revealed the information
that this story had been re-written by yourselves from a Guardian newspaper
report.

We obviously have concerns if this is the case that the report was not
obtained first-hand, leaving us unable to query aspects on the case.

Apart from the legal implications, we are in fact paying for this copy when
we could just as easily lift the report ourselves.

We would be grateful to have your comments on this at your earliest
convenience.
