Let-off for woman who conned 91-year-old out of £10k

A fraudster who helped cheat a 91-year-old man out £10,000 after he was tricked by callers impersonating police officers wept as she was spared jail. Zarina Shariff, 20, worked with two unknown males who telephoned the pensioner claiming he was ‘under threat’ from criminals. Acting as a courier, she collected £3,400 in cash from the 91-year-old and returned twice more to collect antique coins worth £6,600, Southwark Crown Court heard.
