QUESADA:TRIAL SET FOR CAFE MURDER SUSPECT
A murder suspect accused of stabbing a man to death at a cafe is set to stand trial in February next year.
Matthew Quesada, 25, is said to have knifed 63 year-old Alan Smith in the chest at the Roma cafe in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, east London on March 26 this year.
The victim, who lived in Walthamstow, suffered wounds to the heart and lungs and died despite emergency surgery at the scene.
It is claimed that Quesada objected to Mr Smith intervening to help a crying young girl.
Quesada, of no fixed address, appeared at the Old Bailey for a plea and case management hearing.
No pleas were entered and the judge, Richard Hone QC, adjourned the case until a date to be set.
Judge Hone set the trial for February next year.
