Stock market wizard faces jail for cop attack
A wealthy investment boss who hands out cash to the homeless in New York is facing jail for assaulting a police officer.
Roble Regal, 27, was arrested for threatening behaviour on Bread Street, near St Paul’s Cathedral, on October 16 last year.
The Regal Investments chief executive officer then assaulted a police officer at Bishopsgate Police Station in the City of London.
Regal, who can be seen posing beside a private jet and Rolls Royce on his Twitter account, had travelled to London from Canada to attend court.
The company boss – whose London address was given as Heritage Tower, an upmarket apartment block in London’s Docklands – is currently self-isolating after attending a business meeting in Geneva.
The multi-millionaire appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court via video-link and admitted threatening behaviour and assaulting an emergency worker, named ‘PC Hook’.
Bridget Irving, defending, said: ‘He is the chief executive of a company, he had a meeting with a number of different individuals in Geneva.
‘He had the meeting on 25 February, he arranged to come back for the hearing.
‘What happened is he was due to arrive on a flight, what he hadn’t taken into account is that he had to self-isolate for a number of days.
‘Clearly he should have thought of that.’
District Judge Jodie Mittell ordered a pre-sentence report but warned the investment boss he could be facing jail.
Judge Mittell said: ‘The fact that I’m adjourning for a report does not mean you won’t be getting a custodial sentence. Do you understand?
The Canadian businessman replied: ‘Okay yes, take care guys.’
Regal admitted assault by beating of an emergency worker and using abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment.
Sentence was adjourned until April 1.
According to one of his press releases Regal has an ‘exceptional gift’ for trading financial securities. He comes from a family of Somali immigrants who fled the wartorn country and settled in Toronto.
The press release which includes a YouTube link video to his philanthropic gesture says:
‘The multi-millionaire investment firm manager has been suiting up as an average Joe and taking to the streets of New York City to “bless” (his words) society’s downtrodden.
‘Disguised as a pizza deliveryman or garbage man, Roble Regal has personally handed out cash to New York City’s homeless.’
