A convicted rapist who had satisfied his ‘strong s

A convicted rapist who had satisfied his ‘strong sexual
appetite’ with with two under age schoolgirls has been jailed
for a year by an Old Bailey judge.

The 36-year-old man admitted two charges of unlawful
intercourse with the girls, aged 14 and 15.

The jury cleared him of two charges of rape and one of
attempting a grave sexual offence against a 14-year-old girl,
not knowing he had been jailed for three years for a sex attack
13-years ago.

That previous offence occurred after he befriended his
victim in a pub, brought her drinks and walked her home, said
prosecutor Mr Jeffery Pegden.

The man then asked to use her toilet, strangled her until
she was unconscious and raped her, the court heard.

But jailing him today (fri) for unlawful sex Judge Brian
Smedley, QC, said he would not add to the man’s sentence because
of the rape conviction.

But he told the father of three: ‘This is a sordid tale
that the court has heard of your relationships with these two
girls.

‘Both these girls were sexually experienced before they
met you and they were not only willing, but perhaps anxious to
be invoved in a relationship with you.

‘
The judge added: ‘What I do take into account is your
sexual experience with women over your adult years.

‘The law is designed to try and protect girls, sometimes
from themselves, at an age when they are vulnerable and developing
sexually.

‘It does not succeed when a man of 36, married with
children from both relationships indulges in sexual intercourse
with them.

‘You showed a complete absence of responsibility to
either of these two girls.

You used them to satisfy your sexual
appetite.

‘
The court heard that both girls had run away from home
and after they were introduced to the man through a mutual friend
they went to stay at his grimy flat on the Sackville Estate,
Streatham.

On the day the man met the 15-year-old he started a
sexual relationship with her, but the affair ended after an
argument.

Within a few days he had started sleeping with the
14-year-old.

Mr Pegden said the man had ‘a strong sexual appetite’
and claimed that he began to have sex with the girl whether
she wanted it or not.

But the man told the court that the girl had always
consented and denied attempting the unnatural sex act (buggery)
in June this year.

Neighbours told the court they had heard her screaming
but the man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the
girls, claimed she must have been uncomfortable when they were
on the sofa together.

The court heard the jobless shop fitter was also
jailed for a year in 1980 for causing grievous bodily harm
during a knife attack.

He thanked the judge as he was led to the cells.
