A man who made his sister pregnant when they were

A man who made his sister pregnant when they were
reunited after years of separation has been jailed for nine
months by an Old Bailey judge.

The 18-year-old sister had been taken into care at an early
age and was overjoyed when her brother, 20, tracked her down.

The pair quickly became so close that the sister’s
boyfriend was forced to end their relationship and leave the
Kingston flat.

But the same night her brother made sexual advances to
her.

She claimed over the weeks that followed he repeatedly
raped her until she was forced to seek refuge at the police
station, said prosecutor Mrs Patricia May.

When the brother, a groom and riding instructor from Ham
was arrested he asked: ‘Is it my sister?’
Weeks later the sister’s worst fears were realised when
she found herself pregnant by him and was forced to have an
abortion.

The brother denied raping her but admitted incest in April
last year.

His pleas were accepted.

When the sister came into court midway through the hearing
her brother angrily shouted: ‘Get out,’ and she was forced to
leave.

Miss Shani Barnes, defending, said the brother had spent
five months in custody – long enough to mark the seriousness
of the offence.

Passing sentence, Judge Israel Finestein, QC, said he
took into account the fact that the sister, who already has
a child, was not corrupted by her brother.

‘She was a virtual stranger.

I am not aware that he
was more mature than the victim and on the evidence that seems
unlikely.

‘I do not think there is any possibility of re-occurrence.

But the judge added: ‘I have come to the conclusion
that only a custodial sentence can be justified.

‘
The brother turned and waved to his friends in the
public gallery as he was led to the cells.
