JAMES:MAN WHO MOWED DOWN PREGANT LOVER LOSES APPEAL AGAINST SENTENCE
A serial attacker who mowed down his pregnant girlfriend after a row has been told by top judges he cannot complain about his jail term, reports Stand News.
Nicholas Ashley James drove at his former partner, Melissa Watts, while she was five months pregnant, outside their home in Yorkshire Road, Mitcham.
The 35-year-old ex-telesales worker, of Lunghurst Road, Woldingham, near Caterham, was jailed for three years and four months at Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court in May, after admitting assault causing actual bodily harm.
He was today back in the dock at London’s Criminal Appeal Court, where he challenged his sentence – with lawyers arguing it was “too long” for his crime.
But his appeal was dismissed by three of the country’s most senior judges, who said the term was “not excessive”.
