Obsessed fan who terrorised Harry Styles stalked his bodyguard too

A private investigator hired by Harry Styles to protect him from an obsessed fan ended up being terrorised by the stalker herself, a court heard

Kimberly Tarazaga-Orero, 29, bombarded former police officer Michelle Roycroft, 52, with more than 100 abusive and threatening messages via Instagram.

Tarazaga-Orero, who is transitioning to a woman, sent some of the messages before barging into Harry’s north London home in February this year.

The former One Direction singer was upstairs when he burst in.

Tarazaga-Orero, previously known as Diana, was detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act for breaching a restraining order at Wood Green Crown Court in September.

She sent over 100 abusive and threatening messages via Instagram to Ms Roycroft, on 11 and 16 February 2022.

The Spaniard consented to stalking protection order being made at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.

Rosa Bennathan, for the Met Police, said: ‘The respondent [Tarazaga-Orero] first came into contact with the complainant Michelle Roycroft when Ms Roycroft was engaged by Mr Harry Styles to assist him in managing the risk he believed the respondent posed to him.

‘The respondent demonstrated stalking behaviour initially towards Mr Styles, over a period of four or five months after Styles had spoken to the respondent.

‘She would ring the bell on Styles’ house, watch him as he came and went and tried to grab him on two occasions.

‘Ms Roycroft is an expert on stalking protection and she testified in court proceedings regarding Mr Styles and gave her name in open court proceedings in front of the respondent.

‘On 21 May 2021 four emails were sent to the complainant’s work address. They were aggressive emails expressing anger and resentment towards the complainant.

‘The complainant replied telling the respondent never to contact her again.

‘The respondent did not initially send anymore emails. She reported to the police but decided she didn’t want to pursue proceedings as no further contact had been made and she was concerned for the respondent’s mental health.

‘On 16 February the respondent turned up at Mr Style’s home, assaulted a woman pushing her over a wall, climbed over the wall and shouted at Styles saying he was her everything.

‘On 7 March the complainant checked the messages on a public Instagram account she hadn’t checked for some time.

‘She found two sets of messages from the respondent which she hadn’t seen.

‘The first was from 11 February this year. The second set was on 16 February before the incident at Mr Styles’ home.

‘They involve graphic death threats and include the address of the complainant’s office and a threat that she would come there and kill her.

‘It has had a profound effect on the complainant.’

Ms Roycroft said in an impact statement read to court: ‘I was horrified by the extent of the threats and that she knows where my office is. The fact she said was going to come there and kill me was terrifying.

‘I reported it immediately to the police. Despite decades in the police this was very scary. I have had two panic attacks as a result.

‘It left me unable to work as I can’t stop thinking about the threat.

‘I truly believe that Diana (corr) sees me as only barrier or her relationship with Harry and that by killing me she will be able to be with Harry.

‘Because of her obsession with Harry I believe she is capable of carrying out these violent acts.’

According to court documents the emails Tarazaga-Orero sent included criticism, accusations and talk of bestiality.

Work was being done on Harry’s house on February 16 when Orero-Tarazaga buzzed at the gate in front of the property.

The singer was upstairs, when an electrician spotted Orero-Tarazaga behaving in a threatening manner.

A plant pot was broken in a scuffle with the workman and the stalker was taken into the garden.

Three years ago Harry had told a court how stalking by Orero-Tarazaga had left him ‘scared’ and needing to upgrade his security.

The Spaniard was then known as Pablo Orero-Tarazaga, a Hare Krishna follower, who had lived in the UK for six years, before he became homeless in February 2019.

The Brit Award-winner’s ordeal began with an act of kindness in March 2019 when he offered Tarazaga-Orero cash to stay in a hotel after spotting him sleeping at a bus stop.

The Dunkirk actor, 28, had seen the stalker near his home before he offered him food because he felt sorry for him.

‘I thought it was sad that someone so young, that anyone was sleeping rough at the bus stop when it was cold.’

When Harry asked him if he could get him anything to eat, he requested some edamame beans, which he found ‘a bit of a strange request’.

‘I passed him the bag of food through the window, at which point he asked me whether I wanted to go to a restaurant to eat with him,’ said Harry.

‘I found it to be a little odd.

‘Something about it, his facial expression made me feel uneasy and it was at this point I realised there was something not quite straightforward about this situation.’

Harry informed his security team about Tarazaga-Oreo and they advised him to no longer engage with the defendant.

But the musician would see Tarazaga-Oreo outside his home every day even after she was cautioned by police.

Tarazaga-Orero was also twice seen stuffing objects into the celebrity’s letterbox.

Harry hired night security staff and had special locks fitted but the stalker tried to grab him while out jogging.

Tarazaga-Orero was handed a restraining order in 2019 after being convicted of stalking the star.

She was then banned them from going within 250 metres of Styles or contacting him.

Ms Roycroft left the police force when she was 46 to found professional investigations and security solutions firm Holcon Associates Ltd.

She specialises in high profiles of stalking and harassment.

The court heard that Tarazaga-Orero is currently in a mental health facility but her security is being deescalated with a view to discharging her back into the community.

Tarazaga-Orero’s defence lawyer Sevim Tonbul said: ‘She has no intention of continuing to contact he applicant.

‘She is very distressed by the messages sent from her account- she can’t agree that she sent them in the right mind as she wasn’t very well.

‘She’s very distressed, very upset and wants to concentrate on getting better.’

Magistrate Anna Kaposi told Tarazaga-Orero: ‘We are satisfied that you carried out acts associated with stalking as you have been convicted of a stalking offence in 2019.

‘We are also satisfied you pose a risk of stalking to Michelle Roycroft as we have seen emails and Instagram posts sent to her including death threats.

‘The prohibitions are necessary to protect Ms Roycroft.’

Addressing the court at the end of the hearing, Tarazaga-Orero said: ‘I’m very grateful, I’m not that kind of person, I am seeking purification and it is never going to happen again.’

Tarazaga-Orero, of Tottenham, was made subject to a stalking protection.

She must not approach, follow or wait for Ms Roycroft, contact her directly or indirectly, attend her address or any address she believes she is present at or encourage anyone else to do the same.
