Teenager killed in ‘death race’

A teenager was killed when two drivers collided in a ‘street race’, a court heard. Mohammed Alam, 27, and Mohammed Islam, 25, were driving two cars which crashed, killing Islam’s passenger, 18-year-old Haaris Usman. Islam had been taking laughing gas and drinking ‘lean’ – a mix of codeine and promethazine – for several hours before the collision, the Old Bailey heard.
