A 15-year-old schoolgirl violently attacked a neig

A 15-year-old schoolgirl violently attacked a neighbour because
she was giving her ‘dirty looks’ a court heard.

Young Noelene Lindsey, aided by her mother Lillian Lindsey, 35,
gave part-time cleaner Carol Baldwin ‘a good hiding’ outside her home
in Arrowsmith Road, Hainault.

Miss Baldwin’s mouth was so badly cut that she needed stitches,
Snaresbrook Crown Court was told.

Noelene Lindsey pleaded guilty to assault occasioning 36-year-old
Miss Baldwin actual bodily harm while her mother admitted common
assault.

The Crown offered no evidence on charges of inflicting grievous
bodily harm which the Lindseys, both of Arrowsmith Road, denied.

Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that the violence took place on May
17 this year when Miss Baldwin was confronted by Noelene Lindsey after
making a phone call to her father from a kiosk close to her home.

Mr Raymond Sturgess, prosecuting, said: ‘It is one of those
unfortunate incidents which occurs between neighbours.

Miss Baldwin
was confronted by the younger defendant who accused her of giving her
dirty looks.

‘Miss Baldwin sensibly decided that the right thing to do was to
ignore her.

‘
Counsel said that Lillian Lindsey, who had been drinking, then
became involved and threw a glass to the ground when she objected to
Miss Baldwin walking away.

The court heard that she later claimed she was pushed to the
ground by both Lindseys and then kicked by the pair.

At one stage Miss Baldwin’s boyfriend kept Lillian Lindsey at bay
but this enabled her daughter to ‘throw quite a severe punch’ to the
victim’s mouth, continued Mr Sturgess.

She was badly bruised during her ordeal and later needed a total
of seven stitches to cuts on the inside of her lips.

The Lindseys were later arrested and in police interview the
daughter admitted punching and inflicting most of the violence on Miss
Baldwin.

The mum agreed that she had some involvement in the assault ‘and
admitted she never did anything to stop her daughter giving Miss
Baldwin in her own words – a good hiding,’ said counsel.

Judge Geoffrey Grigson remanded the Lindseys on bail until
December 11 while pre-sentence reports are prepared.
