A hotel manager who put a French maid through a terrifying sex assault during a job interview has been jailed for 18 months.

Mohamed Sayed, 44, shocked the pretty brunette when he turned his thoughts away from business to his own perverted pleasure.

Sayed’s hands slipped down towards the 23-year-old woman’s private parts before she managed to fight him off.

He had agreed to interview the woman, already working as a part-time chambermaid after she visited the hotel the previous day.

In a basement room, Egyptian-born Sayed asked the woman if she had any Arabic ancestry before trying to kiss her.

Then Sayed thrust his hand down the top of her trousers, sending a button flying.

He then groped towards her private parts.

Sayed also fondled the woman’s breasts during the attack.

But the victim, a recent arrival from France bravely punched him in the stomach and fled the Windsor Hotel in Earls Court.

Giving evidence at Blackfriars Crown Court the woman said:

‘He held me by the forearm and tried to touch my breast.

‘He slipped his hand inside my trousers, inside my knickers and touched my private parts.

‘

She sobbed as she recalled through a translator: ‘I tried to say stop but maybe the words weren’t coming out of my mouth – I had a lump in my throat.

‘

After punching the sex pest in the stomach she fled the hotel, and ran into the arms of her boyfriend who was standing outside.

After the attack at the hotel in Penywern Road, Earls Court, the woman immediately called the police who arrested Sayed.

Grilled by detectives, Sayed, the hotel’s duty manager, accepted he had interviewed a number of women for jobs at the hotel.

But he said nothing untoward had happened with any of them.

Sayed, who said he was in charge of 57 staff, claimed ‘he did not know why the woman was making these allegations against him.

‘

He told the court: ‘I have worked in the hotel for the last five years and I’ve never heard such a ridiculous story.

‘I know how to conduct myself in interviews.

I’ve interviewed a lot of young people.

‘

Judge David Martineau refused a request from Sayed’s counsel to consider a conditional discharge.

The judge told Sayed he had abused a position of trust, and that a custodial sentence was the only option in his case.

Sayed showed no emotion as he was jailed for 18 months.

A member of Sayed’s legal team said Sayed would appeal against his conviction.

Sayed, of (237) Hermit Road, Canning Town, east London was convicted by a jury of one count of indecent assault, following the attack on 27 July last year.

He denied the charge.
